About The Test of Proficiency in Korean
TOPIK, the most popular Korean language exam, is an acronym for the Test of Proficiency in Korean. It is a standardized examination to measure the Korean language skills of non-native speakers.
There are two categories — TOPIK I and TOPIK II. TOPIK-I has two levels, 1 and 2, whereas TOPIK II has four levels, 3, 4, 5, and 6.
The first TOPIK exam took place in 1997. Since then, the number of candidates and the test frequency have continued to grow.
In 2019, 375,871 people took TOPIK, up from 208,449 in 2014. Due to COVID-19, it declined to 218,869 last year but again increased by 330,012 in 2021 in 75 countries.
If things remain positive, it could reach the top regarding the number of candidates taking the test in 2025.
There are many benefits to TOPIK jobs related to Korean, including proof of language ability to study in Korea and a GKS undergraduate scholarship.

2025 TOPIK (PBT – paper-based Test Schedule)
They offer the TOPIK Paper-based test (PBT) six times in Korea and twice for non-native Korean speakers in other countries. Candidates must apply on time, as the application period is only seven days.
In 2025, the TOPIK Test will be held six times in Korea and five times outside Korea. They will be conducted in April, May, July, October, and November.
They will conduct the 99th, 99th, 100th, 101st, 102nd, and 103rd TOPIK tests in 2025. The test will be administered in India (Delhi, Bengaluru, and Manipur) in July and October. As per the last update, it might happen in Pune in April and November.

Points to Remember
- Seats are limited, and registration will be strictly on a first-come-first-served basis.

- The examination results will be available on the TOPIK website (www.topik.go.kr) at 3:00 pm on the announcement day.
- The score announcement date may change if necessary.
- TOPIK application and exam schedules are subject to change or cancellation due to preventive measures against the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, candidates must check the latest news and updates before applying.
- The exam fee is 40,000 won for TOPIK 1 (levels 1 to 2, whereas for TOPIK 2 (levels 3 to 6), it is 55,000 won.
- You can apply online in Korea. In contrast, submit your application form to the designated organization responsible for managing TOPIK exams.
- Once you pass the test, you can check the official website results. Your score report will be available in digital version only on their site. They don’t send printed or digital copies individually.
- The TOPIK scores remain valid for 2 years from the day the results are published.

After 81st, it’s 82nd, 83rd, 84th, and 85th in this order for 2022. But not all TOPIK tests are held at all centers, and the 82nd and 85th are only for Korea.
