Hi, I’m Vikash Gupta, a linguist, lifelong learner, teacher, blogger, and fun-loving guy. I welcome you to my site, “Joy of Korean.”
If you’re new here and unsure, this site is all about Korean. However, if you want to know about Korea or fancy learning the language, you don’t want to miss this blog.
“Joy of Korean” is the blog where I share my love for Korean, knowledge, experience, resources, and tools that I find beneficial for successful learning. I firmly believe that language learning can be joyful and effective with the correct method and attitude.

My Language Learning Journey
Besides Hindi and English, I have achieved higher proficiency in French and Spanish. Languages were never my interest until I learned my first foreign language – French – when I was a student.
It was during this time that I discovered my passion for languages. This was a life-changing decision. I also started and completed all levels of Spanish during my first job.
Since then, I have studied Italian, Korean, Japanese, and German to varying degrees on and off in the past. Despite many personal and professional commitments, my interests found their way out.
Currently, I am on faculty at two Indian Universities, teaching Spanish and French. I also undertake corporate training, teach at LanguageNext, curriculum development, and career advisor with vast experience in different programs, topics, age levels, and educational approaches.
You can also check out my official LinkedIn profile. And languages are what I write on my blogs.
My encounter with the Korean language
2017 I felt it would be cool to study some Korean characters in now. Eventually, I was able to learn Hangeul-the Korean alphabet, in just one day.
I’ve stuck with Korean ever since. I even collected some books and joined King Sejong Institute to dive deep into everything Korean. And that is how I came up with the tagline of this site, “An Exciting World Of Everything Korean.”
My Blogging Experience
If you’re learning any language from scratch, you’re likely feeling overwhelmed and confused. My primary goal for blogging is to help you with different learning approaches, resources, and guidance that works for you and make the entire process enjoyable.
While I have been in this field for ~15 years, I started studyfrenchspanish.com in 2017 and languagenext.com in 2018 to support and encourage people to learn foreign languages worldwide!
Later, I launched joyofjapanese and joyofchinese.com in 2022, joyofspanish.com, and joyoffrench.com in 2023.
As a one-person founder with no profits, investments, or business partners, I’m responsible for every aspect of my website. My professional language career helped me maintain and take to the next stage, though that wasn’t a small and easy task.
Finally, with the increase in work, traffic, focus area, and technical kinds of stuff, I’ve taken a few professional freelancers’ services to take over some of my responsibilities.
Achievement
When I started my blog, I had hardly a few hundred visitors in a month, but it grew to nearly 3 million page views in 2021.
Many famous educational institutions and popular websites like Cervantes.es, Alliance Francaise, News24, Femina, Duolingo, iTalki, University of Delhi, LanguageIndia, University of Illinois, Leeds Beckett University, Sejong Korean Institute – Inko Centre, UND (University of North Dakota), Interactio, Eurekly, St. Joseph’s College, AC, Times Bridge, Activate Learning, to name a few, have quoted or recommended my articles.
Several organizations have called me for interviews, debates, and perspectives on different aspects of foreign languages.
Reasons for “Joy of Korean”
More than the Korean language, I learned most things through research, writing, and replying to uncountable questions I get on other blogs all the time. Here are a few of my Korean articles on my other blogs.
(i) Why Learn Korean? (ii) Career in Korean (iii) TOPIK Test (iv) Movies to Learn Korean (v) Korean Proficiency Test (vi) Korean Courses in India (vii) Learn Korean in Delhi
During my interactions with my readers, I got several requests to cover more and more topics linked to Korean.
Some questions also required a new piece. A few lines of answers weren’t adequate and left much to be desired. I cannot cover Korean-only content as those blogs and visitors aim for several languages.
So, I found a logical way to solve all these. The creation of “Joy of Korean.”
Purpose of this Blog
Hopefully, you’ll discover many engaging and informative content about Korean through this website. This will encourage you to develop and enhance your understanding of the Korean language and better grasp it as you keep revisiting the website.
I will try my best to bring language learning to life through storytelling, information, news, resources, updates, and many more.
Trust me, it would be a worthwhile experience. I seldom start anything unless I have the conviction and enthusiasm to take it to the next level. And that is the number one reason for delaying this blog until today.
The blog is a way to chronicle my linguistic journey until now. I hope my knowledge, experience, and ability to explain things will help you achieve your goals in Korean.
